"Whatever America hopes to bring to pass in the world must first come to pass in the heart of America." ~Dwight D. Eisenhower
Never before have you had a louder voice. Never before have you been able to make a bigger difference. We need your help. Social media has the power to release a world of social good. It all comes down to you. CARE can only do so much. Eric can only do so much. Together we can move mountains.
CARE Ambassador Eric Harr is traveling to Haiti and he will be embedded with CARE to provide a unique look at CARE's relief efforts. He's not going to Haiti as a member of the mainstream media. He's not going as a CARE staffer. He is going as your representative. Eric wants to bring your voice to the people of Haiti -- and bring their voice to you. He seeks to create a dialog and connect the heart of America with the heart of Haiti one person at a time. He will be monitoring your comments here; he will be reading your Tweets — and he will be following your social stream on our uStream channel very closely. You will have sweeping influence over what he talks about, what pictures and video he beams back and what he tells the people of Haiti. You may not be there physically, but you will be there. With Eric.
While Eric is in Haiti, he has set the goal of raising $1 million for CARE and 1 million followers for CARE. Some say that he isn't leaving Haiti until we reach that goal!

Eric Harr has been an international ambassador for CARE for three years.
He is an award-winning TV host, newspaper and magazine columnist, former nationally-syndicated radio host and the best-selling author of five books including The Portable Personal Trainer (Random House) and Triathlon Training in 4 Hours a Week (Rodale). He has been featured in People, U.S. News & World Report, Marie Clarie, GQ, Men's Health, Runner's World, Bicycling and Prevention and he has appeared on FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC, the WB and on NPR, Sirius/XM and CBS Radio. As a professional triathlete (ranked #6 in the world his first year with 24 victories) and Ambassador for CARE, Eric has undertaken a quest to raise $1 million for CARE by breaking the 9-hour barrier at the 2010 Hawaii Ironman World Championships. As part of this CARE Ironman, he is calling on Americans to improve their health as we improve our world. Eric is the Founding Editorial Director of VIV Magazine, the first paperless, interactive magazine named after his daughter, Vivienne. He is the founder and CEO of a social media agency, Eric Harr Social Media, Inc. whose mission is to "do good business with good people as we do good in our world." The agency allocates 20% of all profits to charitable organizations, most notably CARE.

We can't reach the goal of $1 million alone. We are making a special plea to small to medium sized businesses out there to step up and be part of the solution. We will list your company here and Eric will thank you for your support in his coverage. Please make a corporate donation now.

A Moment Becomes a Movement?Thanks to @ericharr Followers
In the midst of a 5-hour bike ride, I found a $20 bill on the road. What started as a trivial moment soon grew into a powerful movement. My first inclination, as you might imagine, was to smile, pocket it and roll on. But, my mind has been deeply engrossed in social media ? and it soon occurred to me [...]

CARE is continuing to rush aid and emergency team members to Haiti following the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck the impoverished country on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. The capital city is in ruins. Most of the buildings have collapsed, including hospitals, homes and schools. Approximately 3 million people have been affected by the disaster.
The quake's epicenter was just 10 miles south of the country's capital, Port-au-Prince, where the majority of people live on less than $2 per day.
CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. We place special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Women are at the heart of CARE's community-based efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of HIV, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives.
